As the son of a retired police detective and arson investigator with 25 years of loyal service, Mike understands first hand that public safety is a key factor in creating a viable and sustainable community. It is Mike’s vision for Henry County’s Public Safety that the departments continue to protect life and property through the enforcement of laws and providing service to the community. Public safety is responsible for maintaining order, address quality of life issues and promote a community partnership. This partnership will aid in the prevention and investigation of illegal activity and create safe neighborhoods and secure businesses. As a community, Henry County will not be able to sustain protection and safety for officers and citizens without a comprehensive partnership.
Mike is committed to working with all state and local agencies to ensure that Henry County Public Safety departments have the necessary training, equipment, and staff to protect Henry County citizens. Our public safety officers need to receive a competitive salary that is commensurate with experience and degree. Henry County should be focused on retention of experienced officers. That is a key element to crime prevention.
The Henry County Fire Department plays an important role in protecting our families and businesses from fatalities and property destruction. Collaborating with the other members of the BOC, Mike will support our Fire Fighters with competitive pay and the latest in training and equipment. The BOC must continue to meet state standards in order to maintain a good insurance rating. Facilities and response time will continue to be one of Mike's concerns for public safety.
